Tips
Within seconds of walking into a house, prospective buyers form an impression and know whether they want to buy the house or not. Here are a few tips to help encourage a swift sale:
CLEAN SELLS! A good, thorough deep cleaning is a must to make your home show at its best! Add a fresh coat of paint to the walls. Have the carpet professionally cleaned. Make sure pet, smoke or cooking smells are neutralized.
LESS IS BEST! Clear all unnecessary items from tables, dressers, window sills, etc. Keep refrigerator surfaces clear. Move and remove furnishings. Neutralize and stash away personal items, including the wall of family photographs. Downsize what is in closets - remove 1/3 of the hanging clothes and keep floors clear. Remember... CLUTTER EATS EQUITY!
Neutralize Odors!
Avoid Extreme Colors!
DON'T FORGET THE EXTERIOR! Walk across the street and assess your home's curb appeal. Prune bushes and trees, keep plants from blocking windows. Clear patios and decks of all small items. Remove garbage cans, wood scraps and building materials from the perimeter. Add color to the front porch by adding flowers or greenery in attractive containers.
You can't sell it, if you can't see it!
